SUMMARY:WGMA Singing Weekend
DESCRIPTION:Unfortunately this year’s WGMA weekend planned for the 16th & 17th May in Matlock has had to be cancelled. The numbers booking were not quite enough to make the event secure musically\, and the venue viable. It seems the location was not accessible enough for a number of our members\, so the event is postponed and we will look for a venue nearer a larger number of our quires and members. \nWe thank all those who worked to prepare this weekend\, notably Heather Flockton who is local to the venue\, and all those who booked\, who will now receive full refunds. \nThe WGMA weekends have often been very enjoyable occasions\, and we are keen to ensure they continue to be so\, and having a viable number of singers and bandmembers is crucial. \nThe Matlock weekend was also going to be the occasion for our AGM. Our intention now is to hold that instead at Sidmouth during the Folk Festival at the start of August\, where there has been a prominent WGMA presence for many years\, with a number of trustees and members already there. This offers a lot of West Gallery and other musical opportunities for any who attend. We recognise that\, for those who were not intending to be at the festival\, visiting Sidmouth at this time will not be without its challenge\, but we hope members understand that we are required to hold the AGM before the middle of August and that this is without doubt the best opportunity to reach a good number of members within that timeframe. \nWe thank all members for their support for WGMA events.
